When we give our time, our money, our energy — we are saying “Thank you!” to God. We give as a grateful response to the God who loves us. We believe that everything we have is from God, and we are entrusted to use these gifts responsibly, for the good of the world.
Each of you must give as you have made up your mind, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to provide you with every blessing in abundance, so that by always having enough of everything, you may share abundantly in every good work. 2 Corinthians 9:7-8
St. John’s has staff salaries to pay, buildings to maintain, programs to offer, and mission outside the walls of the church to support. Your gift enables the people of St. John’s to minister to each other and to the world.
Members often support their church through an annual “pledge” (a promise to give a certain amount) which could be a “tithe” (ten percent of their income) or a different amount. Typically, members are asked to make their pledge at the end of the calendar year so that the church leaders can prepare the budget for the following year.
One time or occasional gifts are also most welcome!
To make a pledge, please contact the church office for a pledge form.
To make a gift, bring or mail a check to St. John’s Presbyterian Church, 5020 West Bellfort Avenue, Houston, TX 77035.
Gifts of Time
You can give of your time by volunteering with one of the mission ministries we support, or by serving on one of our committees. They are also great ways to get to know St. John’s members and get connected to our community.
You can give the gift of life and donate blood at one of the Blood Drives St. John’s hosts regularly. Our next drive will be Sunday, July 30, 2017.
