Presbyterian Women
Presbyterian Women of St. John's is an organization open to all women of the church who want to participate in and support its activities. Most functions are on Tuesday.
There are three circles that meet once a month for Bible Study, Mission Study and fellowship. The circles meet on the first Tuesday of the month: two in the morning and one in the evening. The association Meeting is held the morning of the third Tuesday of each month with business followed by an informative or entertaining program and lunch.
Most other Tuesdays are activity days for bandage rolling and fellowship. In the past year the Medical Benevolence Foundation of the presbytery and Medical Bridges have received 15,615 rolled bandages and 11,665 empty pill containers which were distributed to poverty areas in America and third world countries. Our "at home" needle workers have produced 148 sweaters for Guideposts and Medical Benevolences and Hermann Hospital received 222 crocheted baby caps for their New Born Clinic.
Other ministries include collecting items for Christmas boxes distributed by Houston's Seafarers' Center to ships in port; decorating two Christmas trees with socks donated for the House of Tiny Treasures and Small Steps Nurturing Center.
Braes Interfaith Ministries is supported by staple goods and/or school supplies collected at PW functions as well as the many women who volunteer and help with the garage sales.
Monetary disbursements include PCUSA Mission, Project Amistad, CROP, Hunger Fund, Holly Hall, PW Thank Offering, PW Birthday Offering, and Least Coin
